Biography

Sofia Vinnik, mezzo-soprano, was born in Munich in 1996.

She was selected as the winner of the state competition in Bavaria 2012 to sing at the festive concert gala in the Bad Reichenhall Theater with the Bad Reichenhaller Philharmonie. In January 2018 she sang as a soloist in W. A. ​​Mozart’s Coronation Mass in the Philharmonie Gasteig with the Salzburg Orchestra Soloists under the direction of Hansjörg Albrecht. In addition to the opera, the young singer also has a great passion for the song. In September 2017 she performed songs from G. Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn as part of the Concert Series of the Gesellschaft für Musiktheater Wien. In March 2018 she sang songs by R. Strauss, S. Rachmaninoff and M. de Falla at the Chamber Music Center. In September 2019 she gave a recital in the Basilika Vierzehnheiligen in Coburg, with works by W.A. Mozart, F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and C. Schumann. Sofia Vinnik is a finalist of the Louis Spohr Singing Competition in Kassel in 2018 and the International Singing Competition for Baroque Opera Pietro Antonio Cesti in Innsbruck in 2018.

In November 2018 she won the LOTTO Foundation’s Sponsorship Prize in the 2018 German Singing Competition of the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang 2018 in Berlin. From 2012 to 2015 she was a junior student at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich in the class of Prof. Marilyn Schmiege. Since October 2016 she studies at the University Mozarteum Salzburg in the class of Prof. Christoph Strehl. Sofia Vinnik was a scholarship holder of the Bad Reichenhall Vocal Academy and works in conjunction with the Gstaad Vocal Academy 2016 and 2018 and the Cecilia Bartoli Music Foundation in 2018 and 2019 with Silvana Bazzoni-Bartoli and Cecilia Bartoli. Since July 2018 she is a scholarship holder of the Yehudi Munuhin Live Music Now Foundation in Salzburg.
